What Department Offers


In pursuance of the Basic Principles of Nursing, the department provides opportunity for the students to acquire and develop requisite skills such as sound theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of the art and profession of Nursing and Midwifery and of the basic principles underlying the techniques and methods used in Nursing and Midwifery. Also the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for planning and carrying out comprehensive Nursing Care for sick or disabled persons.

The main theme of department is to impart ability to think and act independently with full responsibility as a Nurse and Midwife and as a spiritual human being, along with the skill and art of teaching others, the measures necessary to adopt for taking nutritious food and keeping good health.

Academic Environment


Well Planned and closely monitored learning experiences are provided in class room, Hospital and Community Health setting by qualified and experienced faculty to the students. Development of the ability to cooperate with others in or out of a hospital in the care of the sick or the disabled, in the prevention of disease, in the promotion of physical and/or mental health, in restoration of health and in rehabilitation. An understanding of how to plan and implement a pattern of Nursing and Midwifery administration in a ward or a health-unit and also an ability to guide auxiliary personnel who may be part of the Nursing or Midwifery team. They receive knowledge in various respective fields in nursing like;

  • Nursing Tutors/Clinical Instructress in Health Worker Schools, Nursing Schools and Colleges.
  • Public Health Nurses / Public Health Nurse Instructress in Health Care settings and institutions for in-service education.
  • Nurse Supervisors in Hospitals / Health Institutions
