of the department includes, Upgrading, Testing, and consultancy services in mechanical engineering field,
modernize laboratories. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers programmes reflecting the needs
of industry and society from local, regional, national and international perspectives. Mechanical engineering
is a demanding field today which contributes extensively to product manufacturing, offering solutions in design, control and quality.
Research & Development
Many of the department’s research facilities are among the only laboratories of their kind in the country.
The Rotating Machinery and Controls Industrial Program support cooperative research efforts emphasizing
theoretical and experimental research in the areas of rotordynamics and turbomachinery. Through these
and other research programs, our interactions with industry and University professionals provide a unique
link to practical industrial problems and their solutions.
Mechanical engineering graduate students work closely with faculty in their advanced laboratories and to
complete dissertation work. Undergraduate students are engaged in graduate-level research through the
senior thesis and through sponsored research programs. Student projects can be individual or team endeavors
and are often developed around a co-op, summer job or competition experience.

of kinematics of machines, machine design and CAD, mechanics and material science, fluid mechanics,
thermodynamics, automobile and nuclear power, simulation modeling, turbo machinery, etc.

Laboratories & Workshops
Department of Mechanical Engineering has well established laboratories required for undergraduate teaching.
Laboratories in emerging areas like CAD/CAM, automation & computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) have
already been set up. State of the art facilities in the areas of Combustion & Pollution Monitoring have
also been established. In addition to this the department has full-fledged workshop which is spread
over many basic and advanced workshops. The workshop of the department is fully equipped with modern
machines, tools, equipments and measuring instruments. Some of the major instruments are;
Gyroscope apparatus to study and demonstrate gyroscopic effect, model to study steam engine, fuel
system, ignition system, slider crank motion to demonstrate its various inversions and used to plot
displacement, velocity and acceleration diagrams and model to study performance of simple horizontal
steam engine measurement of power of efficiency and speed, ect.
Automation & Computer Integrated Manufacturing Lab which include applied Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer Lab.,
Mechanism, Machines & Dynamics Lab., Stress Analysis & Material Testing Lab., Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning
Lab. Similarly Fluid Mechanics & Machines Lab. Which includes Instrumentation & Control Lab., Heat Power & IC
Engine Lab., Automobile Lab., Shot Peening Lab., Ergonomics Lab., and Industrial Engg Lab., Renewable Energy Lab.,
Production Engg. & Metrology Lab., ect
