What Department Offers
The department of Electrical Engineering is committed to its mission of achieving excellence through
all around development of its students by imparting high quality research oriented under graduate
education to produce competent engineers. Apart from academic activities we are also instrumental
in providing and organizing workshops and seminars.
Although the electrical engineering field was created by the rapidly developing electric power
and electronics industries, it has steadily grown to include a very wide range of technical
applications. The strong mathematics background of an electrical engineer allows him or her
to apply these skills to a very broad range of challenging and emerging areas.
Research & Development
Sophisticated equipments and test setup for research in the area of electrical engineering is a special feature
of the department. The faculty and students of this department have developed a number of instrument systems
in collaboration with leading R&D organizations. Our curriculum is modified, enhanced and updated regularly
as we introduce new courses to reflect current topics in this fast changing discipline.
Many of the department’s research facilities are among the best in India. Through these and other research
programs, our interactions with industry and University professionals provide a unique link to practical
industrial problems and their solutions. Such interactions are increasingly important not only in maintaining
the vitality of our programs, but also in continuing the up gradation of our resources in classrooms and
laboratories.

Electrical Engineering is fueling and recharging the future of a new world. The major engineering stream
inconsonance with electronics and computer science offers an excellent opportunity in the arena of academic,
industrial, institutional and Research & Development where the Engineering automation/digitization combined
with traditional electrical field is playing a pivotal role in the technological environment.
Electrical Engineering department of NITM provides a platform for continuous systematic learning with theoretical,
practical and co-curricular exposure for shaping the young collegian into a competent electrical engineer.
Laboratories & Workshops
The laboratories are equipped with sophisticated equipments, test setups, FPGA based data acquisition system,
embedded controllers, Digital Signal Processors, Medium power Inverter-converters, various Electrical Drives,
PLCs, Power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc to name a few. Some sponsored projects have been carried out
carried out in the area of FACTs and Electric Drives. The Department is also engaged in consultancy on
turnkey basis.
